This apartment is situated in the suburban area of Sunila along the southern coast of Finland. It was designed by renowned architect couple, Aino & Alvar Aalto in the 1930s. We are working on a balanced approach to restoration, preserving its historical sensibilities while updating it to modern standards and beyond.

This is a collective housing building in the Nishi-tengachaya district, and is a typology popular in the Kansai region of Japan that evolved from the traditional nagaya house that housed the working population of this former merchant capital of Japan.
It was erected in 1970 during the last world expo, and this upcoming refurbishment coinciding with the upcoming 2025 Osaka Expo will bring it full circle.
